I'm starting to get a bit bored just telling stories from my travels on the tour, so I'd imagine my readers probably are to some extent, too. That's why I've decided to add a new feature to my blog called "The Sunday Report."
Those of you who have been reading my blog for a long time (or have heard stories of my lucksack potential) know about the practically magical heater of Sundays I went on in late 2008.
I had several first place finishes in Sunday tournaments, including what still stands as my biggest online score: winning the Sunday 500 for $105k in late December 2008.
All together I managed to cash for well over a $250k in the span of 11 weeks and turn a marginal year in my career into a pretty good one.
Well, now it's time to take a more realistic look at Sunday tournaments from the perspective of an online pro. I'm going to give a brief recap of tournaments I go deep in, list my cashes, and I'm even going to break down my bottom line.
If you've never played a full schedule of the high stakes MTTs online on a Sunday, it may surprise you how big my swings are.
That being said, don't be surprised if I'm stuck six figures before I profit a dollar on Sundays (don't get me wrong, it's not my plan...)
I've decided to ignore my results in the cash games I play on Lock Poker on Sundays, so that we're just focusing on tournament variance. I also played an abbreviated session this Sunday, since I had re-booked my flight to Tunica for the middle of the night Sunday/Monday morning due to a blizzard.
I'll leave that for the Tunica story though, which should be posted in a few days.

This day actually started out with a lot of promise. Although I usually don't make too much noise early, I jumped out to an early chip lead by tripling and quadrupling up very early in a few tournaments. It seems like I should have saved some rungood for later, though.
In the $55 freezeout where I took 104th, I got it all in preflop with AK against AJ for a ton of chips. I had a huge stack in the Sunday 500 as well, but lost a pretty standard coinflip and ran AJ into AK after I got short.
I ran AQ into Steve "MrSmokey1" Bilirakis's KK about 30 spots from the money in the Stars second chance for a pretty big pot as well.
I also got dirtied pretty hard in the Tilt $750k gtd when we were 17 spots from the money. Blind vs blind, the small blind flatted my 3bet when I had Q♠ Q♦. He had about 2/3 of a pot bet left, and jammed it in on a A♠ 2♠ 4♣ flop. I called, he showed T♣ T♦, and he rivered a ten.
The most important hand of the day ended up being a huge coinflip in the Tilt $163+rebuys. I four-bet jammed A-K for a little over 30 big blinds and got called by Q-Q ... and strangely enough, 7-7 overcalled with two players all in before him. Unfortunately, I bricked out for about 250k at 1200/2400 with five tables left and over $90k for 1st.
That's pretty much the story of last Sunday ...a t least as far as poker is concerned. I'll tell the rest of the tale in the Tunica blog.
