So I’m done playing liveaments and back to the online grind. Last entry I wrote that the games would be getting a lot tougher from now until the end of the year thanks to the Supernova and Supernova Elite grinders. This has been very true and perhaps even worse than I expected.
The SnGs just have a crazy number of regs right now. I have never had to game select so meticulously before. Saturday during the day was particularly terrible, which makes sense since all the grinders were online to play the Supernova freeroll. I feel like I spend more time game selecting than playing poker.
This is what I get for deciding to earn all my VPPs in the last third of the year. You can bet that I’ll be done grinding by this time in 2012!
I earned a bit of money in October. Here was how it ended up:
# Online MTTs: 32 (-$1,594)
# SnGs: 659 (+$3,287)
# Live MTTs: 4 (+$1,343)
Net result: +$3,036.00
The live MTTs include two satellites, the BCPC $550, and the BCPC $1,100. I went deep in the $550, but I ended up the final table bubble girl in 11th place. It was very disappointing because I was chip leader at my table when it was down to 12 people, but I got coolered blind vs blind for 25% of the chips in play. So sick.
I made day 2 of the $1,100 too, but I couldn’t make it to the money. I was actually going to play the $3,000 since I had cashed the $550 and could almost freeroll it, but I decided against it in the end because I needed to play online. I had already spent four days playing the $550 and $1,100, and the $3k was a four day event. I decided I couldn’t risk getting behind in the Supernova grind.
Moving back to online poker, here are my results for 2011 so far (excluding rakeback and bonuses):
# online MTTs: 2,276
# online SnGs: 2,002
Net profit: +$26,512.95
Inching closer to that $30,000 online poker profit goal for 2011. Would be awesome if I could hit it by the end of November.
I’m going to have to be pretty patient and disciplined for the rest of the month. The games are gonna get worse as we get closer to December, and I’m going to have to be very flexible with my playing hours. So far I’ve found that there are less regs earlier in the day and then later in the day, which means that I’ll probably be working split shifts.
I might also need to drop down in stakes when the games are really bad. Sometimes the $60s are just unplayable because they are filled with profitable SnG regs. Skipping the $60s means that I need to play longer hours, though, because I’ll need higher volume to make up for the loss in VPPs.
If everything goes well, I’ll play tons in November, somehow find a bunch of soft games, and then be almost home free in December! If you are also on the grind, good luck at the tables.
